I get a lot of questions of what my bets for 2024 are, so I’m sharing them in a handy pie chart today for easier visualization. My basic investment thesis this year is "bet on everything I can reasonably track." (For that reason I don't have many memecoins or airdrop extravaganzas.) The included chart is using today's USD prices to show the relative sizes of each token.
My $RON bet looks absolutely massive, but it didn't start out that way. When I started building this port in November, it was more like 10% of my overall. Same thing with $TIA. That was a relatively small bet (maybe 2% of my port?) and it ended up exploding to take up 10%. The gaming token $PRIME was just a 1% bet and it's grown 3x.
There are a lot of infrastructure bets here (LINK, BAL, MATIC), and a few redundant layer-1 bets as well: I have APT/SEI/SUI and all three of them are basically using the same tech. (But they're also all nearly 2x of what I bought them for, so can't complain.)
The pie chart doesn't show them but I made a lot of small bets that are all sub-1%, including AGIX, RNDR, CFG, CQT, STG, WLD, and SYN. Basically a bunch of AI, DePIN, and RWA ecosystem tokens. I'm not a big enough believer in any of these to throw a ton of money at them, but if any of them do well this year, I’m banking on at least one or two of those 1% bets to balloon to 5x and cover the other inevitable losses.
You're probably wondering why this chart doesn't have BTC or ETH. My BTC and ETH are from years ago and you could argue that I'm already severely overexposed on both of those tokens. This separate port tracker is just for 2024 and I'm not planning on buying any more BTC or ETH this year. (If this is your first year investing in crypto, please consider that I've been doing this for a decade when you evaluate my choices!)
So far, my biggest losers are ALGO, DOGE, and CQT. All about -20% from when I bought them. As I write this, 20 of the 32 bets I've made are in the red, and the 12 that are green are doing well enough that they are basically propping up the entire port. You can see that I'm still up by 60%. I consider that a soft win, but you may be after bigger gains than me ;)
I'll share this chart every month or so (without any $$$ amounts of course!) to talk about general progress, or any rebalancing I end up doing. This should go without saying but this is just for fun, because I like discussing this stuff. Invest at your own risk. Stay safe out there cryptofam!
